"Dwyane Wade made a kosher pit stop before the Miami Heat took on the Lakers in L.A. on Tuesday...The Heat used the facilities at the JEM Community Center in Beverly Hills to warm up hours before their game. And before they left, Wade met up with Rabbi Hertzel Illulian...who offered up a 'quadruple rabbi blessing' before the game. Turns out...the Jews came through -- with the Heat beating the Lakers 78-75."

NBA Star Kevin Durant Receives Triple Rabbi Blessing and Wins Game! Posted May 16, 2014
Basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant received a ‘triple blessing’ from three Los Angeles Chabad Rabbis yesterday, hours before game 6 against the L.A. Clippers in the NBA playoffs. The blessings must have worked, because the Thunder won that game 104 to 98.

The former Mayor of Los Angeles said that he could not believe his eyes that such a spectacular facility that embraces people of all race, religion and the community at large, exists in the heart of Beverly Hills thanks to a rabbi who saved a YMCA. He was so happy to see all the children swimming; playing sports and also the programs they offer that includes education and camps. On November 10, the honorable Antonio Villaraigosa began his 2018 bid for governor of California and Rabbi Hertzel gave his blessings for success. The Mayor and the Rabbi have a long term amicable relationship.
